New Firearm Legislation
Oct 3, 2009
There is new legislation being reviewed currently that would strip away the rights of the people of this country quickly and without regard to the constitution. H.R.45 – “Blair Holt’s Firearm Licensing and Record of Sale Act of 2009″ is the bill and what it’s attempting to do is just plain crazy in my opinion. Here are some of the highlights for you.
- Applies to any handgun or rifle that can accept a magazine that is not an antique
- You must have a firearms license to own a gun
- In order to get the license you have to send the following to the Attorney General:
- Passport sized photo
- Your Name, Address, Date and Place of Birth
- Any alias’ you have ever used
- Thumb print which is to be taken when submitting your application
- A statement stating you are not restricted under current law from prohibiting a firearm
- A certified statement saying you will not let a minor (under 18) use this gun
- An examination testing your knowledge of firearms which is to be taken when submitting your application
- A signed release allowing the Attorney General or authorized rep to access your mental health records
- And of course you have to pay your (up to) $25 dollar fee per year (so that they can pay the folks who are gathering all this illegal data)
- You can’t sell YOUR firearm to anyone unless they also have a firearms license
- You will have to go through a dealer to sell YOUR gun
- The Attorney General can during regular business hours inspect any place that keeps firearms for commerce.
- This bill does not interfere with a states ability to enact gun related laws unless those laws are in conflict with this law (WHAT? The 10th amendment isn’t that important is it?)
- Creates state level registration systems
- This bill doesn’t apply to government departments or agencies
As you can see there are a lot of things in this bill that are completely and utterly repulsive to anyone who wants liberty to reign in our country and this isn’t even a full list. If this bill passes it will be noted by future generations as yet another turning point leading us to socialism or worse yet a dictatorship in this countries. We cannot and must not allow this to happen. Our forefathers sacrificed to much for us to trade liberty away so quickly. Write your representatives now and let them know that you will not stand for this.
Here is the letter I wrote my congressman:
Dear Rep. XXXX,
I’m writing to ask you to strongly and openly oppose “H.R. 45: Blair Holt’s Firearm Licensing and Record of Sale Act of 2009″. This piece of legislation goes against several of the founding principles of this country and ideas of our founding fathers. I don’t ask much from my Representatives but I do ask that you protect the rights that were given to me at the cost of my forefathers blood. The cost of liberty was to great to throw it away for a little safety and I’m convinced that this bill would make us no more safe than we currently are. Violent acts with guns are already illegal, why do we need more legislation to make it more illegal? How about we pass legislation that makes the consequences greater so people might stop breaking the laws that are already there instead of taking away more rights of the people?
Below is a shortened list of things this bill calls for that I cannot and will not support:
<SAME LIST AS ABOVE – REMOVED TO SHORTEN POST>
Thank you for your time and I hope and pray you will oppose this bill,
XXXXXXXXX

This bill has no sponsors, and is essentially dead in committee. Though the fact that it was written and submitted is an abomination…

Your correct Mayberry, technically it’ll die in committee but it’s crazy there are people even thinking about this. I’m not sure what country he thinks he’s in but I can only hope that “We the people” would stand up and revolt if it came to something like that being passed. If they every succeed in getting our guns TEOTWAWKI will soon follow I’m afraid. We’ll get to say goodbye to every remaining liberty and freedom we still hang on to now.

When we start hanging traitors and corrupt politicians, this will again be a political body “for the people”.
Right now, they are only interested in satisfying their greed for money and power, which means control over the people.
