I wasn’t feeling well tonight so I stayed home and did some studying.  I stopped studying and picked up one of the books I’m currently reading, One Second After, and just finished chapter 5.  Although I tend to read a lot it’s mostly technical stuff, explanations of how to do something (like survival books) or occasionally end of the world fiction.

As I read I rarely get so involved in a story that I “feel” like I’m there but tonight it happen.  As the decision was made and the act carried out I could feel the tension and surreal feeling that I believe the author was trying to get across.  I actually put myself in that situation and wondered “could I do it?”, I think the right decision was made but could I do what was necessary if it came down to me being put in John’s place?  I’m going to have to think on this.  I’m just not sure.  I believe I could but tonight makes me wonder I guess.

If you haven’t read the book then you have no clue what I’m talking about and I did that on purpose so when you do read it I won’t have spoiled it for you.  If you have read it let me know what you think, do you think the right decision was made and could you go through with what John had to do?

I enjoyed the book. To me, seemed like a movie, with it highs and lows. The words seem to pull you into the storyline as if to make you apart of the town or atleast a refuge that was on the highway when the cars broke down. I felt for him when he lost his daught (sorry for ruining that part of the story). I heard that the book may be made into a movie. I’ll be the first in line.
